We need a new classroom and the director of the school middle class plans to do it, but it's expensive. Also, we'd like to have a real piano, not a clavinova.

I'll tell you what, French politicians don't care about young students playing music and they can't imagine how important it is. So, if you like the Young Rapture Choir, you can help us.

My name is Patrice, I teach music in a little town called Cognac (perhaps do you know this place for another reason than music...). With my students, we created the Young Rapture Choir five years ago and we play music together 2 or 3 times a week. Since the the beginning, we played: Nirvana, Kent (a french singer), The Doors, Pixies, Laura Veirs, Pure Horsehair.

This year, we decided to play Grandaddy songs, we've worked all the year for this project. June 6, we played a full concert with Grandaddy songs (18) with an exposition of paintings about the Grandaddy universe.

june 6, 2008 - cognac theater

1. he's simple, he's dumb, he's the pilot
   working on this song with my students made me cry.
2. the go in the go for it
   four young girls (12 years old) singing this song; I love the way they sing it...
3. nonphenomenal lineage
   this song remained me to a surrealist painting by Munch: «le cri»
4. summer it's gone
   the last song of our concert, I decided to sing it with the students. They love this song.
5. jed the humanoid
   a really nice song about jed, we decided to sing it like the ancient funeral songs.
6. the crystal lake
   one of the first songs we've played.
7. the warming sun
   while playing this song a Wednesday afternoon, an ancient student I didn't see since 9 years came back to see me. He has created the Young Rapture Logo. «in a dream, you were sittin' there, waiting by the door for me». 3 girls (Justine, Manon, Louise 15 years old ) sing this one and i find them really expressive.
8. now it's on
   we've played this song all the ways you can imagine: with a piano, folk, pop, rock... we decided to keep the rock'n'roll way.
9. black butterfly
   is not a Grandaddy song but Laura Veirs. This wonderful singer came from seattle to hear our concert of her songs and she called us the young rapture choir because of our «rapture» cover (a really moving song). I knew we had found our final name...

Tomorrow's Young Rapture Choir...

I've got many projects for the choir, next year, (February or March) we'll play again the Grandaddy concert in Bordeaux; the person organizing the concert wants to invite Jason to sing with us, we'd really like too. I'd like to have a really good recording of this concert to produce a live album (with the same songs + new songs).

An Australian group (myspace.com/kingtebbutandwhistler) would like to record a song with us.

Next year too, we've got an important project with a French singer: Kent (myspace.com/kentcokenstock). We'll play 20 of his songs in the theater of our town and he'll come to hear us. It's not easy for us to perform because we need really good sound conditions and in France it can be expensive.

2010: the big experience, we play The Beatles and Sean Lennon: the YRC (choir and r'n'r band) with a symphonic orchestra. I'd like to play this concert in the theaters of different towns with paintings (made by the students) and videos.

2011: Elliott Smith and Liam Finn.
